Lights & Lighting Control

Glowing lights and lighting control are conspicuously the most substantial part of our life. We are living in the time of revolutionary technology and innovative products for lights and control systems.

The Internet wonderfully becomes our indispensable part of intelligent life, and the Internet of Things IoT becomes an elegant life’s modern passion. The internet of Things (IoT) and lighting solutions can connect to devices that are connected through wired or Wi-Fi connection.

The Internet of Things (IoT)

An IoT lighting control system (LCS) can seamlessly connect with one specific device to communicate with another device. Connectivity can happen precisely between devices within the LCS and between lighting devices and non-lighting devices. Within brilliant lighting, such direct communication can be accomplished through lighting controls. Networked lighting controls realistically achieve many of the practical aspects properly described in this definition of IoT lighting solutions. These innovative solutions invariably add to a networked system by providing some level of artificial intelligence. (AI)

History of Lights Products

Considerable history of the electric bulb starts from the 18th Century. The founder of the first light bulb record in the name of Mr. Tomas Edison. In 1878, Thomas Edison developed a practical incandescent lamp and on October 14, 1878, Edison filed his first patent application for “Improvement In Electric Lights.”
After that a developed variety of lights products are typically manufactured till time. Now LED lights replaced most of the old types of lamps like incandescent lamps, Halogen Bulbs, Sodium vapor lamps, CFL, etc. The most advantages of LED lights are low power consumption, less size with more lights, various colors, mixed color from single light, more life, etc. this is why LED lights took the role of SMART LIGHTS.

Smart Control

Smart lights need to utilize the smart way of installation and Smart control. In our home, office, indoor, external lights can control from traditional switches, Mobile App, Touch panel, voice control even when you are away from your home or building.

Type of Smart Controls

By properly using motion or occupancy sensors the lights ON/OFF by its own way by the inactivity of our presence in that particular room. So lights OFF automatically when humans are not there and can save electricity bills. Occupancy controls can be used in conjunction with dimming or daylight controls to keep the lights from turning completely off when a space is unoccupied, or to keep the lights off when daylight is plentiful and the room is occupied. Using motion sensors outside can utilize lights ON/OF and alarm triggers so they can be safe from thieves.

By using a dimmer control system, the light’s brightness can increase or decrease on our mood or requirements. While dimming the lights, the power consumption also decreased. This way the room ambient looks elegant and also saves the electricity bills. There are manual dimming and remote control dimming.

Economic time switches and photocell solutions can turn lights ON or OFF for a specific period of time. Light sensors measure the outside lights and control automatically outside lights Time switches are extremely useful for turning off photocell-activated exterior lighting late at night.

Centralized controls system used to automatically turn on, turn off, and/or dim lighting at scheduled times or under certain connected load conditions. This type of control is usually used in a conference hall or on a building-wide scale using a building automation system (BAS). Centralized control strategies can also integrate lighting controls with other building management systems (BMS), such as mechanical or security systems. A KNX protocol system is commonly used for this application.

Digital communication protocols used as distributed controls. It is required a control panel, and commonly used in large buildings and this system can be integrating with Building Management System (BMS) or Building Automation System (BAS). A Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) system provides a means of control which can speak to individual ballasts or groups of ballasts. The “control wiring” is independent of the “power wiring” and provides the highest degree of flexibility available at this time. When space configuration or occupant needs change, the system can respond by reassigning the ballasts accordingly.
